FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions for Erindor LARP

What kind of LARP is Erindor?

Erindor is a story-driven fantasy LARP with a strong focus on immersion, character roleplay and atmosphere. We aim for meaningful in-character interactions, dramatic scenes, tension, and a world that reacts to player choices.

We are not a large festival-style LARP with hundreds of participants. Erindor is smaller, more personal and built around a close, immersive experience.

Do I need LARP experience to join?

Not at all. New players are very welcome. You do not need years of experience, a perfect costume, or deep lore knowledge to join Erindor. What matters most is that you are willing to engage with the setting, stay in character as much as possible, and help create a strong experience together with the other players.

How many participants does Erindor usually have?

Erindor is currently still a relatively small LARP. Participant numbers may vary from event to event, but we usually work with a mix of:

  • 8 – 12 Adventurers
  • 6 – 10 Civilians
  • 5+ Adversaries
  • 5 Crew

Compared to larger LARPs, this means the experience is often more personal, more direct, and easier to step into as a newcomer.

Is Erindor still growing?

Yes, absolutely.

We are still growing and actively building towards a broader and more stable player base. At the same time, we want to grow carefully and deliberately, without losing the atmosphere and personal feel that define Erindor.

So yes, if you enjoy the game, feel free to tell like-minded LARPers about us.

What roles can I play?

There are several ways to join Erindor.

Adventurers are the main player characters and are usually central to the story.
Civilians help bring the world to life and may play roles such as merchants, villagers, guards, healers, priests, or travellers.
Adversaries are dangerous or opposing roles, such as bandits, monsters, cursed beings, enemy soldiers, and other threats.

We recently started using the term Adversaries rather than Monsters, because those roles often include much more than just creatures to fight, you can read here about how you can play at Erindor LARP.

Can I play the same Civilian character again at future events?

Often yes, but not with an absolute guarantee. Erindor is a dynamic setting, and events may shift in location, tone or situation depending on the story and the actions of the players. Because of that, we cannot promise that the exact same civilian role will always fit every single event.

That said, recurring civilian characters are definitely possible, especially if the concept is flexible. A travelling merchant, wandering priest, healer, guide or guard can often be easier to bring back than a role tied to one fixed settlement or story element.

Is there combat? And how important is it?

Yes, Erindor includes combat, but combat is not the only focus.

We aim for combat that feels theatrical, immersive and meaningful rather than purely competitive. Some participants love battle, while others are far more interested in politics, trade, religion, storytelling, mystery or social play.

You do not need to be a combat-heavy player to enjoy Erindor, but there will be combat present.

How strict is Erindor when it comes to immersion?

Fairly strict, in a conscious way.

We care a lot about atmosphere and in-character play. That means we ask people to avoid unnecessary out-of-character conversations during the game and to help maintain the setting as much as possible.

We are not reenactment and perfection is not required, but we do expect costumes, gear and visible props to fit the world reasonably well and to avoid obvious modern elements where possible.

What is included if I pay for food?

During most of our spring, summer and autumn events, we usually do not offer a full food option. Instead, we try to make sure there is a usable camp kitchen available for participants, often including basic things such as a microwave, kettle and cooking space.

When we do offer a food option, this will be clearly mentioned on the registration form. This is most likely during events where we have access to a proper working kitchen, such as some of our winter events.

If a food option is available and you choose to pay for it, it generally includes:

  • breakfast
  • lunch
  • dinner

The meals are usually simple and practical rather than luxurious. We focus on making sure people are properly fed in a way that fits the event, the location and our budget.

Because this can differ from event to event, always check the registration form carefully to see what is included for that specific event.

What drinks are included?

If drinks are part of the event, we provide a basic range of drinks, such as:

  • water
  • coffee
  • tea
  • soft drinks
  • sugar-free soft drinks
  • beer

We do not provide strong alcohol. Participants are welcome to bring extra drinks or snacks, but we ask everyone to be sensible and respectful with alcohol use.

As with food, always check the registration form for the specific event. That form is the final reference for what is included and what is not.

Is there an in-game economy or coin system?

A limited one, yes.

Erindor has been evolving, and a more active in-game economy is something we are gradually developing further. As the setting shifts more toward travel, settlements, trade and local interaction, money and barter naturally become more relevant.

So yes, coins and trade exist, but this system is still developing and may continue to grow over future events.

How does progression work?

Erindor is not built around a heavy XP or level system.

For Adventurers, progression is mainly story-driven. Character growth comes through choices, consequences, alliances, losses, discoveries and reputation.

For Civilians, there is currently no large formal progression system, but we do like the idea of recurring characters gradually building influence, status or relationships over time. This is something we may expand further in the future.

How often do you organise events?

At the moment, Erindor has typically run around two to three events per year.

Our ambition is to grow towards more regular events over time, ideally moving toward a rhythm of multiple events per year, and eventually something closer to one event per season. That growth depends on crew capacity, logistics and the continued growth of the player base.

Will event dates become more fixed in the future?

That is the intention, yes.

At the moment, exact dates may still vary quite a bit from event to event. In the long run, we would like to move towards more predictable periods so returning players can plan ahead more easily, but we are not fully there yet.

Can I join on my own?

Yes, absolutely.

Many people come to Erindor LARP without already knowing the whole group. Because Erindor is smaller in scale, it is often easier to get involved, meet people and become part of the story more naturally.

We know joining a new LARP can feel like a big step, so we try to make that step as welcoming as possible.

Can I bring friends?

Of course.

If you have friends who might enjoy Erindor LARP, feel free to invite them. We are always happy to welcome people who enjoy immersive fantasy roleplay and who are a good fit for the atmosphere we aim to create.

When is the registration deadline?

The registration deadline may differ from event to event, so always check the current event page for the most up-to-date information.

In general, registering earlier is always better, especially if you want a more tailored role, a specific type of participation, or one of the more limited spots such as Civilian roles.
