Lore & Rules
Enhanced individuals are those who have been altered beyond the natural limits of body and mind.
This transformation can take many forms:
- alchemical enhancement
- ritualistic transformation
- exposure to unnatural forces
- blood magic or forbidden practices
- partial corruption, mutation, or hybridization
Some resemble disciplined hunters, calm and controlled. Others are unstable, feral, or visibly monstrous. Some hide it well, others not so.
An Enhanced character might be:
- a trained monster hunter
- a ritual-marked warrior
- a berserker driven by altered blood
- a stitched-together survivor of unnatural creation
- a half-turned creature fighting for control
- or something far harder to define
Starting Hit Points
- Torso: 5 HP
- Limbs: 3 HP each
Equipment, Weapons & Armor
Enhanced individuals adapt to survive, not to look impressive.
Armor
- Light to medium armor is most common.
- Heavy armor is rare and often impractical, but allowed if it fits the character design
Weapons
Common choices:
- swords, axes, spears
- daggers or secondary weapons
- shields or dual-wielding depending on style
Your gear reflects how you survive and who your character is.
Core Traits
Poison Resistance:
Your altered body can withstand substances that would harm others.
- You may ignore the effects of:
- “Sleep” potions → SALT taste
- “Deadly” poisons → VINEGAR taste
- It does make you sick for a short amount of time, roleplay puking or sweating the poison out!
Enhanced Regeneration:
Your body heals faster then the avarage human.
- Every 2 hours → recover 1 HP on torso
- Every 1 hour → recover 1 HP on a limb
This represents unnatural resilience, not immortality, so the rules of Exhaustion still applies:
Each time your torso reaches 0 HP, your body weakens. After being healed, your maximum torso HP is reduced by 1 for the rest of the event. If your torso reaches 0 HP while already at 1 maximum HP, it counts as an execution → permanent character death. Even enhanced bodies have limits.
Instinctive Abilities
Your body or mind can channel unnatural power, but only in a controlled, limited way.
“Meditation”
- You may “meditate” up to 4 times per day
- Meditation takes at least 10 minutes of uninterrupted roleplay
- During “meditation”, you must choose one ability to prepare
- In the future we can open up more “spells” but we want to test the balance of these two first.
You may only use the prepared ability until your next “meditation”.
“Meditation” does not necessarily have to be the classic lotus position with eyes closed. It can also be a ritual or habit that better fits your character concept, as long as it involves at least 10 minutes of uninterrupted roleplay that reflects recovery or recharging.
PROTEGO
- Call: “Protego!” while crossing arms.
- Effect: Negates all incoming non-magical damage for that moment.
A defensive instinct, a moment of unnatural resilience.
PULSAR
- Call: “Pulsar!” while pushing arms forward
- Effect: Forces a single target backward
Used to create space, disrupt, or escape danger.
Enhancement Methods (Alchemy, Rituals, Runes, etc…)
Not all Enhanced characters use potions, the effects below may be represented as:
- Drinking a brew
- Activating a rune, can even be a tattoo or scar.
- Performing a short ritual
- Triggering something within your body
- Something else fitting your character concept…
The method may vary, the effects remain the same.
General Rules
- You may carry 1 use per effect
- Reusing the same effect:
- does not stack benefits
- does stack consequences
- After use: 2-hour immunity window to the same effect
Common Effects
Stable Recovery / Adrenaline rush
Effect: Restore +2 HP to torso and limbs
After combat:
- 15 minutes of nausea and weakness
- No combat or running
- Light activity only
Berserk / Rage
Effect: MAX HP to torso and limbs
Immediate consequence:
- Enter a frenzy / bloodlust / rage → Roleplay this!
After combat ends: You drop to 0 HP on your torso.
Aegis Effect (Magical Resistance)
Effect:
- Reduces magical damage from IGNIS from 4 damage to 2 damage
- Duration: ~2 hours
Downside:
- Your body becomes brittle
- Physical hit deals 1 damage extra
Design Philosophy
Enhanced characters are not “better fighters.”
They are High risk, High reward characters.
- You survive what others cannot, pushing beyond mortal limits.
- But every advantage carries consequence…
Play towards: Instability, physical cost, loss of control, visible or internal change, a dark past…
