Adventurer Archetypes

Adventurers can choose from a number of specific archetypes that make them more exceptional than the average inhabitant of the world. These archetypes are broad by design. The lore behind them, the way they look and how they are played can differ greatly from character to character.

Two Arcanists, for example, may feel like completely different things in play because of their background, culture and personal style, while both still use the Arcanist archetype to bring their magic into the world.

At Erindor LARP, who your character is and how they came to be matters far more than the archetype they use.

We strongly recommend creating your character concept first and only then choosing the archetype that best supports your vision. That way, creativity leads the process, while the mechanics simply help bring that character to life.

Current archetypes include:

Arcanist

Practitioners of studied, inherited, or instinctive magic. Their power comes from knowledge, talent, or forces they barely understand. Arcanists are the most versatile of the archetypes and can influence the world in many different ways, but they are also physically fragile and can become dangerous to themselves if they push their magic too far.

Enhanced

Individuals altered by forces beyond the natural: alchemy, magic, rituals, or unnatural exposure. Their abilities come at a cost. Enhanced characters are tough, resilient and often hard to put down, but their strength is unstable by nature. The more they rely on it, the more they risk losing control or paying the price afterward.

Paladin

Warriors bound by conviction rather than doctrine. Their strength flows from belief, oath, faith, or an ancient gift awakened within them. Paladins are durable frontline fighters with a rare talent for resisting Chaos and hostile magic. They are at their strongest when they can stand directly against danger, but they are generally less flexible than the more mystical archetypes.

Ritualist

Those who shape the world through preparation, symbols, sacrifice, and time. Their power is slow, deliberate, and dangerous, often linked to spirits, gods, ancestors, or darker forces. Ritualists excel at blessings, healing, curses, and long-form supernatural influence, but they are rarely fast or direct. They shine most when given time, setup, and the right moment.

Each archetype comes with its own abilities, strengths, weaknesses and playstyle. Archetypes exist purely as a game mechanic and should never limit your creativity. They are there to support a concept, not define it.

An in-game druid, shaman, priest, oracle, witch, or similar figure could easily fall under several of these archetypes, depending entirely on your character’s background, history, personal lore and how you choose to play them.

At Erindor LARP, we care far more about who your character is than about fitting them neatly into a label.
